So two weeks ago I bought myself an Apple Watch. Yes, I know. Bah Bah, what a sheep, etc. etc.
I love this thing. It’s completely unnecessary to life, but I love it nonetheless. One of the actually useful things it does is track your activity. It has several methods of doing this, one, by tracking your steps. Two, by tracking your movement or calories burned. Three, it tracks whether you got 30 minutes of exercise per day. And finally, it prompts you to stand up and move every hour if you’ve been sitting too long.
Now, here comes the sad part. When I set up the watch and activity app it asked me what my activity level was. I said Sedentary, because I have a desk job and mostly sit on my ass all night surfing the net. This is embarrassing but true. So, that being said, the app suggested a calorie burn goal of 310 calories. Seemed reasonable to me.
Except I failed to meet it at all on the weekends. Some weekdays I barely got there. The fun part is, the watch suggests a new goal every week. This week it dropped me down to 150. That’s just pathetic, right? I know it is. I was down six pounds but I appear to have gained it again, sigh.
I need to do something about this. But I have to also be realistic, right? That’s why I’m going to leave it at 150 this week and hope it gets me higher next week, and the next, etc. It does not help that I like I pulled a muscle in my leg. Sigh. But no excuses. We all have to start somewhere.
